Kasaragod: Chandera police have arrested a person who swindled Rs. 5 lakh from a couple promising them to pay in dirhams.

The arrested has been identified as Farooque Sheikh (38) from Jharkhand. About a week back, Sheikh had cheated the couple, Haneef and Saida from Madakkara, Neeleshwara. Instead of Dirhams he had handed over a bag with paper pieces and fled the scene.

Following this the couple lodged a complaint at Chandera Police Station. Police who acted swiftly held the accused with the help of CCTV footage.
