The number of candidates has doubled this year compared to 2015 and 2016 where 2050 and 1000 candidates had lost eligibility on account of attendance shortage.

According to Rule 21 of Karnataka Educational Act of 2006, a candidate having an attendance of less than 75 percent is ineligible to take up exams. The same rule is applicable to PUC, Degree and Post Graduate students as well.

PU department had stopped issuing admission tickets to students for exams after receiving several complaints from the public regarding institutional heads violating rules. Prior to 2013, students were permitted to take up exams despite attendance shortage.
