Bangalore: The long-standing trial for the people, with reference to the Yettinahole project seems to be never-ending as the CM Siddaramaiah tried to clarify issues agitating their minds  during a recent people’s representatives meeting.

Speaking to the gathering the CM claimed that the Yettinahole project is not a river diversion project.

He explained that the Netravati river diversion project is all together a different project than the earlier Yettinahole project, which only proposes to use about 24 tmc of rain water between June and October to fill tanks in the above two districts.

He justified the project saying that the purpose of the project is to rejuvenate these tanks to meet the  potable water requirement of these  water-starved districts.

During the meeting the officials presented a detailed report on the project along with a map showing how water is pooled, diverted and collected, duly providing details of how much rain water goes waste by just flowing into the sea during rainy season.

He said that people must stop their agitation and try to learn this report and understand the project.

He further directed the people’s representatives to convince the environment and anti-project activists about the genuine aim of the project.
