Bengaluru: BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa on Wednesday commenced the study tour in drought-affected areas. Yeddyurappa, along with BJP leaders, including Shobha Karandlaje, visited Sri Siddaganga Mutt seer Sri Shivakumara Swamiji to seek his blessings before commencing the drought study tour.
Speaking with media persons, Yeddyurappa has alleged that state government has failed miserably in handling the drought in the state. “I want the state government to take measures to supply drinking water and fodder in drought-affected taluks. The government has to open goshalas and fodder banks at all drought-hit taluks in the state. The government should take up desilting of water bodies in drought-affected areas,’’ Yeddyurappa said.
The BJP state president has also advised the chief minister and other ministers to do something to mitigate problems in drought-affected areas instead of blaming the Centre for the delay in releasing funds. “I will accompany the state delegation to the Centre. I will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Agriculture Radha Mohan Singh and seek more funds for drought relief works in the state,’’ he said.
