Bengaluru: Minister for Major Irrigation and Medical Education D K Shivakumar exuded confidence that the Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) coalition government in the state would complete its five-year tenure.

“The coalition government will be in power for five years. Nobody will speak against the party,” Shivakumar said.

Addressing media at his Sadashivanagar residence on Wednesday, June 27, DKS suggested his fellow Congressmen not to worship a particular person but to worship the party. “Rahul Gandhi himself said that the government should survive for 5 years. We didn’t consider the 37 seats of another party, but joined hands thinking about the 224 Assembly seats,” he clarified.

“Some miscreants prepared a video of Siddaramaiah’s speech and gave it to the media and those statements cannot be authentic. Rahul Gandhi and Venugopal have agreed to continue the government for five years, which is authentic. Here the party is more important than the person,” he said.

“Regarding the coalition, there is no need of any comments- no need of any tug of war. There would be no effect on the government by the statements of Siddaramaiah. There is no problem with the transfer of the government officers. The CM has given the required official,” he added. Meanwhile, DKS informed that he may not be present on the day of the budget, due to unavoidable reasons.
