Bengaluru: Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has been facing a lot of flak for a statement he made to a protesting woman farmer. In an attempt to put out the metaphorical flames, he has said that he is willing to step down from his post is he has ever disrespected any woman.

Speaking to reporters at the Vidhana Soudha, HDK said that his words were misinterpreted as he is always cautious and is aware of what words he uses.

“How could I have said anything wrong when addressing that woman farmer as a mother?” he asked, adding that he was ready to take back his statement if it had hurt the woman’s feelings.

He then said that, as he comes from a respectable family, he knows how to respect women and has always treated them with dignity in his personal as well as professional life.
