Bengaluru: As per the calendar of events published by the Medical Council of India (MCI) admission process for the medical and dental Post Graduate courses are now under progress in Karnataka.
While Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) is functioning as the nodal agency confusion prevailed over who should fill up the management and Non Resident Indian (NRI) seats available in the private medical colleges and deemed universities of the state.
On Wednesday, state medical education minister Sharan Prakash Patil announced that as per the MCI notification, KEA itself will fill up the management and NRI quota seats available in the private medical colleges and deemed universities. However, a few hours after the announcement he issued a clarification that colleges and deemed universities themselves will admit students under NRI and management quota and KEA has no role to play in it. He made it clear that his earlier announcement was result of a fake notification issued by few vested interests in the name of MCI. He also announced that his department will lodge a complaint with Vidhana Soudha police over this fake notification issued in the name of MCI.
