Bengaluru: As many as 10 KSRP platoons and over 200 city police personnel have been deputed at Covid 19 hotspot of the city Padarayanapura after late night clash between locals and the police.
A total of 54 persons have been arrested so far in connection to the violence that broke out in the area.
The situation is tensed even on Monday. Police detained 50 persons in connection with the incident.
All started late on Sunday evening with Covid 19 team arriving at the locality to shift 58 secondary contacts of 18 Covid-19 positive patients from Arfatnagar in Padarayanapura with a handful of police personnel.
However, the refused to shift. A few locals who joined them, started attacking the team. Fearing violence, police and the team members backed out.
The local youths allegedly destroyed over 100 barricades put up by the local police.
Later, the authorities reached the spot with 10 KSRP platoons and over 200 city police personnel and took away all the secondary contacts to the designated hotels for the quarantine.
It has been alleged that women also joined the anti social elements in destroying the police barricades.
Former CM HD Kumaraswamy, Health minister B Sreeramulu, home minister Basavaraj Bommai, and union minister Prahlad Joshi condemned the attack on the Covid 19 team.
