Bengaluru: The BBMP has decided to rename the ‘Vasantapura’ ward as the ‘Ambareesh’ ward as the late actor was a resident of the locality for more than four decades.

According to the authorities, the public’s objection has been sought for the decision before it can be implemented. “In the next 15 days time, the general public can raise their objections or give a suggestion,” informed a senior officer.

Late M H Ambareesh, also known as the “Rebel Star” in the Kannada film industry, served as MLA, MP and Union minister during his political career. He breathed his last on November 24, 2018 following a cardiac attack.
