Vaccination for the elderly stunted at 4% in state

Bengaluru: According to an estimate put out by the Health Department, only four per cent of the elderly have been vaccinated since March 1.

As per the 2011 census, the population aged above 60 years is projected at 54,87,399 but only 2,17,085 have been vaccinated so far.

With 9,11,336 senior citizens, Bengaluru Urban is the home to the largest number of senior citizens in the state. Only, 91,312 have been vaccinated so far.

This is still the highest in the state among all the districts amounting to 10 per cent of vaccination coverage.
