Bengaluru: A three-year-old girl child was kidnapped on Wednesday, April 10, at Sampigehalli, S R K Nagar in Bengaluru.

The perpetrators kidnapped the child in broad daylight when she was going to a nearby shop to buy chocolates. The incident has been captured on CCTV, but the police have not yet tracked the culprits.

According to sources, the police suspect that the kidnappers might be well known to the child. It is said that the parents of the child are giving varying statements every time they are inquired.

The kidnapped child is identified as Mamatha, daughter of Sharanappa, a labourer who works for daily wages. Mamatha has an elder sister. Sharanappa and his family who are basically from Raichur, have been residing in Bengaluru for the past four years.

Sharanappa had sent his daughter Mamatha to buy some chocolates on Wednesday at around 1.30 PM, who did not return home even after one hour. Sharanappa immediately filed a missing complaint in Sampigehalli police station.

“The incident of kidnap has been captured on the CCTV camera of a nearby apartment but the kidnappers cannot be identified as their faces were covered. The reason for the kidnap is also not clear,” say police.
