Bengaluru: Nineteen years and down, the Udaya News channel by Sun TV Network Limited will be out of transmission in Karnataka from October 24. The decision has been taken by the management owing to the substantial losses that this oldest news channel in Kannada has been incurring since the past couple of years. With this the services of 73 employees stands terminated.
A letter in this regard has been submitted to the Karnataka State Secretary with copies marked to the Commissioner of Labour, Regional Deputy Labour Commissioner and the Assistant Director Sub-Regional Employment Exchange.
With all the investments to keep the channel going to drains owing to a stiff competition and consistently diminishing viewership, the management is taking the drastic step.
