Two seer supporters arrested for posting abusive messages on FB

Bengaluru: The police arrested two supporters of Raghaveshwara Bharati seer of Ramachandrapura Mutt, for allegedly posting abusive messages on the Facebook page against Anshumathi Shastri, daughter of Premalata and Diwakar Shastri couple, who has registered a complaint of sexual harassment against seer.

The Banashankari police arrested persons are Sanath Palappadi, a 50-year-old agriculturist from Hunsur, and Santosh (29), an insurance agent from Bengaluru. Criminal case was filed against them and some others under Information Technology Act. Both were remanded to 15 days judicial custody on being produced in the court.

The police arrested after Anshumathi Shastri lodged a complaint. She told the police that she was not only getting threat calls but was also getting abusive messages on Facebook.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Lokesh Kumar confirmed the report stating that the duo has been booked for criminal intimidation and under Section 66 (A) of the IT Act (sending offensive messages through communication service). Moreover the duo confessed they were followers of the seer and made allegation in a state of anger, he added.
