Two IEDs found in Ramanagara, fear grips locals

Ramanagara: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) officers and Ramanagara town police recovered two IEDs from a stream in Ramanagara town, which were allegedly thrown by a suspected Bangladesh-based terrorist who was arrested in Doddaballapura recently.

On June 25, NIA officers had arrested a suspected terrorist is by the name S K Habibur Rehman alias Sheikh (30), who allegedly has close links with the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen, an Islamic terrorist organisation operating in Bangladesh.

Based on the information obtained from Rehman on Wednesday, the NIA and local police carried out a search operation for two IEDs in Ramanagara. These were found in the Siralla stream.

According to sources, during the investigation, Rehman revealed that he had thrown two IEDs into a stream in Ramanagara.

The police informed that Rehman confessed that he carried out several robberies in Bengaluru and Ramanagara to collect money for the terrorist group. Now, they have decided to investigate this lead as well.
