Two held for credit card scam in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: The Cottonpet police have arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in credit card scam. The police have identified the arrested persons as Nadeem Sharief (30) hailing from Goa and staying at A Block, ETA Apartment, KP Agrahara and Afsar Rehman (33), hailing from Goa and staying at KHB Colony in Mysuru.

The police have recovered Rs 10,15,000 cash, an electronic data capture (EDC) machine, one laptop, 10 blank ATM cards, one reader/writer, one mobile phone, one colour Xerox copy of Aadhaar card, 55 copies of passports of foreigners, one laptop, one PSO machine of Bank of Patiala and one receipt book of Coronation Kashmir Arts Nigam from the accused.

According to the police, the accused use to cheat account holders of various banks by posing as the officials of the respective banks. They used to collect information from them on PIN and credit cards to prepare duplicate credit cards. The police said the accused persons used to collude with shop owners in commercial areas and swipe the duplicate credit cards.

The police said the victims include the account holders of banks situated in Mumbai, Goa, Jammu and Kashmir, Jaipur and Bengaluru.

The police have registered a case.
