Bengaluru: Two migratory labourers from Jharkhand tragically died when a compound wall collapsed on them in the Pulakeshinagar area of the city, late on Saturday evening. The incident occurred when the labourers were working on a stormwater drain.

According to the Pulakeshinagar police, who are investigating the incident, the deceased have been identified as Sudarshan and Shafeek.

Sources in the BBMP informed that the deceased were two of ten labourers who arrived from Jharkhand for the stormwater drain work.

According to the sources, the stormwater drain is situated next to the compound wall of an apartment building. The drain was dug with the help of a JCB and the labourers were laying concrete. It was at that time that the compound wall collapsed on them.

A case in this regard has been registered at the Pulakeshinagar police station.

The mortal remains of the labourers were handed over to their friends from their native village after a postmortem was conducted at the Bowring hospital.
