Bengaluru: Congress has decided to deny party ticket to Harsha Moily this time for the assembly elections, following the embrassment his tweet caused to the party.
Disclosing the details, party president G. Parameshwara said, Harsha Moily will be asked to take back his application as the party has decided not to give him a ticket based on Veerappa Moily’s request.
“The INC needs to solve money in politics. We can’t afford to have road contractors and their nexus with the state PWD minister determine how candidates are selected for the upcoming assembly elections”, Moily’s tweet read few days ago, taking a jibe at state PWD minister H C Mahadevappa and the role of money power in politics.
The party insiders felt Harsha Moily was directly responsible for causing emarassment to the party following the tweet which appeared on the twitter handle of both Veerappa Moily and Son Harsha Moily. Repeated attempts by the father-son duo to deny their role in the tweet had not met with desired results. However, the party high command decided to close the issue as closed, following Veerappa Moily’s clarifications.
The tweet had not only caused embrassment to the party and but gave opposition BJP enough ammunition to launch an assault on the party.
Incidentally, Uday Kumar Shetty, a close condidant of state PWD minister H C Mahadevappa is one of the aspirants for the Congress party ticket from Karkala.
