Tumakuru: Tumakuru University will soon set up Vinayak Damodar Savarkar chair.

A decision in this regard was taken in a meeting of the university syndicate held on Friday August 26.

T. D. Vinay, a syndicate member made a proposal in the meeting. In the meeting, Vinay announced Rs. 1 lakh towards the chair. Another member H. Prasanna donated Rs.25,000.

The chair will take up the study on the contribution of Savarkar to the country.

It is the first university in the State to start the chair on Savarkar.
