Tumakuru: Over 150 devotees fell ill after consuming prasadam at a temple in Sira of the Tumakuru district.

According to the Tumakuru district health department officers, on Saturday, the devotees consumed prasadam at the Anjaneya Swamy temple in Chinnapanahalli of Sira.

These devotees, according to the authorities, ate dinner at the temple on Saturday night and developed health complications the next morning. By Sunday night, the number of devotees that rushed to various hospitals reached 150 and at least 45 devotees were rushed to the Tumakuru district hospital as their condition was serious.

Authorities say that the health of all the devotees is now improving and all are out of danger.

Food department officers have rushed to the spot and collected the food samples for testing.

Sira MLA B Sathyanarayana, former minister T B Jayachandra and others visited the hospitals and inquired about the health of the devotees.
