Tumakuru: A constable has been arrested for assaulting a woman officer at the Koratagere police station here on Monday.

Jabiullah Khan is the constable.

The arrest was made based on the complaint filed by assistant sub-inspector Mangala Gowramma. She had complained that the constable had slapped her, twisted her hand and abused her verbally.

Superintendent of Police Karthik Reddy told The Hindu that the constable was produced before the JMFC court in Koratagere and was granted bail.

The constable was absconding since March 11 after assaulting the woman officer on March 10. It is learnt that the constable allegedly assaulted the woman officer over allocation of daily duty.
