Transport officials seize 200 vehicles and collect 60 Lakhs in fines

Bengaluru: Transport department officials seized 200 vehicles in the city on Tuesday, for various offences, and collected a fine of nearly Rs 60 lakhs.

Narendra Holkar, joint Commissioner for Transport Bangalore along with a team of motor vehicle inspectors conducted a check on air pollution and noise pollution around Gorguntepalya, Nelmangala, Hebbal junction, Devenhally, Doddaballapur and Yelahanka in north Bengaluru.

The drive included 25 private buses, 50 maxi cabs and 30 cars registered in other states and the rest were goods vehicles penalised for overloading. During checking private buses were stopped plying from Doddaballapur/ Devenhally to Bangalore allegedly causing inconvenience to the passengers.

BMTC and KSTRC pressed additional vehicles into service and provided alternative arrangements to the passengers.
