Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister Laxman Savadi said that the transport department has suffered losses worth over Rs 4,000 crore since March 2020.

Speaking to media persons on Saturday June 26, Savadi  said that despite the department suffering revenue losses, employees have been paid their full salaries. Around Rs 2,600 crore were availed from the government to meet financial demands. As only 50% of commuters have been allowed for buses, the revenue generated currently will not even meet the demands of fuel and salaries, he informed.

Savaid said that the union leaders have assured that they will not go on strike during these difficult times and want to join hands with the government.

It can be recalled here that after the first wave of Covid – 19, KSRTC staff had go on strike, following which the second wave hit the State hard.
