Bengaluru: Jayanagar Traffic Police, on November 14, set out to make a difference in Bengaluru by organizing an hour-long cycle rally creating awareness about the dangers of using mobile phone devices while behind the wheel.

The rally held in collaboration with Dult, Bcos, Mindtree.com, and Rideler.com was flagged off at 9 am by ACP-South Traffic sub division Mariyappa and was lead by a battalion of traffic police and staff.

Some others who learned about the cause also jumped in to support the same.  It is well known that one of the leading causes of road accidents is the use of mobile phones while riding/driving that can be the source of a lot of distraction.

The purpose of the rally was to bring to the notice of the community that they should not only be responsible for themselves, but also urge others to be cautious. The event was supported by the Rotaract Club of Koramangala who turned up with great enthusiasm to join the rally.

This group, comprising of 18-30 year olds, have been actively participating in and supporting campaigns towards safer roads and safe driving. Two weeks ago, there was another campaign held at four different signals in Jayanagar towards the mandate of using of helmets while riding a two-wheeler, active social media campaigns etc.

Kudos to the Bangalore traffic Police for actively pioneering this awareness rally to make our roads safer and taking an effort to involve the public to spread the message and advocate the cause.
