Bengaluru: Decks have been cleared for the demolition of the Jayadeva flyover which was built in the year 2005. On Monday, December 10 at 6 AM, the traffic police blocked the traffic movement on this iconic flyover of the city, on which around 10,000 vehicles move per hour during the peak hours.

According to sources, the BMRCL will take up the demolition work of the flyover from Wednesday to construct the Namma Metro line.

This flyover was built at an estimated cost of Rs 21 Crore in the year 2005. “The traffic to various parts of South Bengaluru has been diverted via various routes. But it would be better for the passengers and commuters to avoid the Silk Board Signal and the Koramangala junctions, as heavy traffic is expected due to these diversions,” informed a traffic cop.

Meanwhile, BMRCL authorities expressed confidence of completing the Namma Metro work by 2020.
