Bengaluru: Tipu Jayanti celebration which left two people dead last year at Madikeri is a headache for the officials again this year. It is said that right wing organisations are more aggressive this time and are panning that the celebrations are not held this year.

The intelligence department has revealed that some organisations have already held meeting regarding the same. An official said that Bhagamandala Bandh was observed by some organisations and it was related to Tipu Jayanti.
“There are two groups in the district and one is opposing Tipu Jayanti, while the other believes that Tipu did not carry out any massacre of Kodavas. This itself would lead to a clash in the coming days,” the official said.
The department has also pointed out that the violence would not be restricted to Kodagu district alone this time. Communally sensitive areas like Mangaluru, Udupi and Shivamogga would be affected during this year’s celebrations.
“The police heads of the districts concerned have also been updated about the development and are advised to take appropriate precautionary steps,” added the official.
It may be recalled that D S Kutappa and Shahul Hamid K N were killed on November 10 in the violence that took place at the Tipu Jayanti celebration at Madikeri.
