Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, the general secretary of Ramanagara district JD(S) Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Morcha was hacked to death by three unidentified persons on Monday evening.

The incident occurred in the Kanakapura town police station limits at around 7 PM when RT Raja Gopal (42), of P Ramapura in Kasaba hobli, was drinking his tea at a hotel near his home. He had reportedly stepped out of the hotel to answer a call when he was attacked.

Raja Gopal died on the spot after sustaining injuries to his face and neck, according to the police.

He is survived by his father, mother, wife and brothers.

A protest was staged by the party leaders, who demanded the arrest of the perpetrators of the brutal crime.
