Bengaluru: The state government has ordered the suspension of three Raichur police officers on charges of not providing proper security to Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy during his recent village stay in Karegudda village of Manvi town.

The Yermarus Thermal Power Station (YTPS) workers had blocked CM Kumaraswamy’s bus, on Wednesday, June 26, when he was on his way to Karegudda for village stay and protested demanding an increase in their wages and resolving their other issues. An enraged CM had threatened the protestors of ordering a lathi charge for which he had to face widespread criticism throughout the state.

Holding the police officers responsible for the breach of security during the CM’s village stay, the government has decided to suspend three police officers.

Reportedly, the order has been issued to suspend Raichur District Superintendent of Police Dr. C B Vedamurthy, Rural Police Station PSI Ningappa and Yergera Inspector Dattatreya. However, the Bellary zone Inspector General of Police (IGP) has to approve the suspension order.
