Thirteen, including two from DK, test positive for COVID-19; Tally rises to 589

Bengaluru: As many as 13 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Karnataka on Friday, May 1 evening.

Of the 13 new cases, six are from Davanagere, two are from the Dakshina Kannada district, two are from Kalaburagi, one is from Vijayapura, one from Chikkaballapura and one from Hubballi-Dharwad.

Earlier in the day, 11 people tested positive for COVID-19.

Of the six people who tested positive for COVID-19 in the evening, five, including a 1-month-old baby boy, are contacts of Patient 556. The other is a contact of Patient 533.

The two cases from Dakshina Kannada are a 69-year-old man from the Bantwal taluk and a 62-year-old man from the district. The former is a contact of Patient 390 and the latter is a contact of Patient 536.

One of the cases from Kalaburagi is a 56-year-old man with severe acute respiratory illness and the case from Hubballi-Dharwad is a 57-year-old man with an influenza-like illness.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the state has risen to 589, which includes 22 deaths and 251 discharges.
