Bengaluru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President D. K. Shivakumar said that the party will protest against the state government on June 9 over the textbook revision issue.

Speaking to mediapersons he said, “We are protesting on June 9 against the textbook issue that they (the state government) are trying to amend. Be it B. R. Ambedkar, Jainism or Buddhism, they want to remove their stature in textbooks.”

He remarks came after Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that Congress is ‘politicking in everything.’

The State Textbook Review Committee in Karnataka has been disbanded. The decision is being made in the midst of a debate over textbook revisions.

The committee has been disbanded, according to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, because its designated work has been completed. In the case that any content is found to be objectionable, Bommai mentioned that the government is ready to further revision.
