Bengaluru: A techie from Gujarat who was absconding since last 15 years after murdering his wife at his native place was arrested on Wednesday by the Bengaluru CCB police.

Ahmedabad resident Taruni Jinaraj had murdered his wife Sajani in 2003 and went missing since then. He fled to Bengaluru and joined an IT major under a fake name and opted only for night shift to avoid any encounter with people who would know him or his past.

According to the CCB police sources, Taruni Jinaraj was a basketball player and had married Sajani, but he was having an affair with another woman, which led to a family dispute. In February 2003, Jinaraj murdered Sajani and fled from Gujarat.

“He joined an IT major as an operator. His company recognised that he was excellent at work and hence promoted him as senior manager.

“Recently Sajani’s parents had approached the PMO seeking another investigation. This time Gujarat police was able to trace him. Based on their request, the CCB police arrested him,” said police.
