Bengaluru: In a show of good detective work, the Bengaluru city police, with the help of CCTV footage and a T-shirt logo, were able to solve a murder case and capture the perpetrators.
Reportedly, the deceased, Sathyasheelan (46), a daily wage worker was attacked by three men who saw him with two sachets of whiskey on March 25 in Cox Town. During the altercation, the men, later identified as Lokesh (21), Sevaraj (19) and Sunil (20), stabbed Sathyasheelan in the back. As per the autopsy report, Sathyasheelan suffered shock and haemorrhaging due to the stab injury, causing him to collapse near a roadside garbage dump and die.
Based on the autopsy report, the Pulikeshinagar police registered a case of suspicious death and began an investigation.
During the course of their investigation, the police team led by inspector Firoz Mohammed, found CCTV footage of the incident and saw that one of the attackers was wearing a T-shirt with an ‘L’ printed on it. Armed with this, they were able to track down the men, who were hiding out in a graveyard. The police also recovered the knife used to stab Sathyasheelan.
The three men confessed to the crime after they were tracked down and were promptly arrested. They were then remanded to judicial custody.
