Bangalore: As directed by Supreme Court, self-proclaimed godman Nityananda underwent a series of potency tests at Victoria Hospital on Monday September 8.

CID sleuths took him into custody yesterday and shifted him to an undisclosed place.

Meanwhile a disciple of Nityananda, in the guise of the godman, tried to mislead the media persons waiting outside the Bidadi Ashram.

A team of doctors led by Dr Veeranna Gowda, conducted the tests in four phases and have reportedly said that Nityananda is physically fit.

The decision was taken last week after the Supreme Court upheld the high court’s order to conduct a potency test on Nityananda, who is accused of sexually harassing his devotees.

Refusing to give any relief, an apex court, bench headed by Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, had on September 3 dismissed Nithyananda’s plea challenging the High Court’s order directing him to take the medical test and rapped him and the state police for the “atrocious delay” in the case related to a sexual abuse complaint against him by an NRI woman.

In its July 16 order, the High Court had upheld the 2012 order of the CJM who had allowed the plea of the Criminal Investigation Department to subject Nithyananda to medical test to find out whether or not he was capable of having sexual intercourse and to collect his blood and voice samples.
