Bengaluru: The Deputy Director of Mines and Geology Department was found dead under mysterious circumstances. Caught in the police trap while trying to flee, the driver, Kiran, revealed during the interrogation that he had killed the officer for money, gold, and jewelry. Allegedly, he sculpted the officer’s image in sand before sneaking into her house, murdering her, and stealing cash, gold, and valuables worth 3 to 4 lakhs. Subsequently, he placed the money at his friend Shiva’s residence in Konankunte. Shiva was unaware of the source of the money.
Upon questioning, Shiva was informed by Kiran that he needed someone to keep the money temporarily. After returning from a visit to Malpe Maheshwar Betta, Kiran planned to retrieve the money. However, Shiva was unaware of the nature of the funds.
The police have reportedly obtained a confession from Shiva, acknowledging that Kiran had handed him five lakh rupees and gold obtained through the murder. The motive for the killing was clearly money-related. The investigation is being conducted under the leadership of Talaghattapura Inspector Jagadish.
Within a few hours of the incident, the police had arrested Kiran, the accused. At this time, Kiran confessed to the police, stating, “I used to work as a chauffeur for Madam. Recently, I was relieved from duty. Frustrated, I committed the murder.” However, the actual details came to light during the rigorous police interrogation. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited.
