Bengaluru: A divisional bench headed by Chief Justice Rajan Gogoi will hear the petition of the 15 disqualified MLAs from the state against then speaker KR Ramesh Kumar’s ruling disqualifying them to contest in any election till 2023.
Well known advocate Mukul Rohatgi is representing these disqualified MLAs.
The outcome of today’s hearing is crucial for all these 15 disqualified MLAs as the central election commission has announced by-election for these 15 constituencies.
If the SC declines to provide any relief, the disqualified MLAs can’t contest in the election.
It can be recalled that on Sunday, CM BS Yediyurappa rushed to New Delhi with the disqualified MLAs and met home minister Amit Shah to discuss the future of them.
All the disqualified MLAs are now camping at New Delhi. They will personally attend the hearing this morning.
The case is likely to come up for the hearing at 11.45 am.
