Bengaluru: Clerics and heads of Mosques and Madrasas from various parts of the state came together in solidarity with Maulvi Anzarshah Qasmi, who has been nabbed on charges of having links with terror outfits, from Bengaluru.

Over 150 religious heads met at Eidgah Grounds in Bengaluru and decided to extend legal help to Qasmi and to toil for his release as they maintained that Qasmi is not someone who could be involved in any terror activities.
The meet resolved to submit a representation to the CM and the Home Minister, seeking their intervention.
The clerics participating in the meet said that while they do not support anti-national activities, it was rather disturbing to see a Maulvi being nabbed on mere suspicion and is now being portrayed as a terrorist.
“Even as the City Police Commissioner confesses that there are no evidences to prove his involvement in anti-national activities, the youth from the community are raged by the arrest,” one of the clerics said adding that the legal procedure to release Qasmi will begin as soon as possible.
