Supercop Annamalai resigns from service citing personal reasons

Bengaluru: Supercop, Bengaluru South DCP K Annamalai has tendered his resignation to DG IGP Neelamani Raju, on May 28 citing personal reasons.

He is a 2011 Karnataka cadre IPS officer and started his career as an ASP in Karkala in Udupi district.

He announced that after the resignation he will take rest for six months and involve himself in the social activities.

He informed that he is bored of fighting with thieves, robbers and not able to give time for his family.

A BE and MBA graduate, he cleared IPS in 2011. “All my relatives are my native. In the last nine years, I was able to attend just one marriage. This job is not suiting me,” he stated.

There have been rumours that the Super Cop, who is also called ‘Singham’ was contemplating on resigning from service as he nurtures political aspirations. However, Annamalai had refuted the same.

Meanwhile, his decision to tender his resignation has been confirmed and lauded by senior IPS officer D Roopa, IG Railways. In her tweet, she said that Annamalai has tendered resignation today and he is plunging into politics. 

“It requires guts, boldness to leave cushy, secure, hard earned IPS job. It’s heartening to see such achievers and youngsters diving into politics. Wishing him all the best,” her tweet read
