Mysuru: Close on the heels of the Raita Sangha cautioning of a protest in front of the Chief Minister’s residence in Sharada Devi Nagar if the government failed to give them their amount pending from the sugar mills, Section 144 was imposed around Siddaramaiah’s house on Thursday, February 11. An altercation broke out between the policemen and a few farmers who tried to trespass the security due to which a farmer got injured. Other farmers had their lunch on the streets and marked their protest.

It may be recalled that State President of Sugarcane Cultivators’ Association Kurubooru Shanthakumar had threatened of a protest in front of the residence of Siddamaraiah if the dues were not settled by February 10.

The farmers challenged the policemen on duty to either help them get their dues just as they collect fine from helmetless pillion riders and generate revenue for the government or leave them alone to protest and get their demand met.
