Bengaluru: Many students in the State have been suffering as a result of a massive backlog of scholarship applications as they have received no status updates from the government.
Students are facing hardships as colleges are placing pressure on them to pay fees, informed Former Minister and MLA Dr. H. C, Mahadevappa.
Despite applying for scholarships through the State Scholarship Portal (SSP), many students are yet to receive funds. Students are confused as they did not receive rejection letters too for their applications. Thousands of students, particularly SC/ST and backward-class candidates, are affected by the issue, he added.
Mahadevappa addressed this matter in a letter to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Education Minister Dr. C. N. Ashwath Narayan, and Social Welfare Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary.
He claimed in the letter that universities refused to give students their results as they had not paid their fees. This issue also prevents students from attending job interviews.
In response to this, Social Welfare Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary informed that the problem would be settled in a month and that a meeting would be held. Students are having difficulties because their Aadhaar or bank details have not been correctly linked, he explained.
