Street vendors protest in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Street vendors took out a massive rally demanding various issues to be addressed in the city on Wednesday, August 3.

The agitators held protest march from various parts of city and assembled at Freedom Park by afternoon. More than one lakh street vendors joined the protest march and vented their anguish against harassment by police and BBMP officials.

The protesting vendors also urged the State government to form a street vendors’ committee under BBMP limits and legalise their business as it is done in other metros like Mumbai and Chennai.

As usual, the traffic flow was affected as thousands of vendors took on to the streets.

It was a successful bandh as several people who depend on street side food and products were affected.
