Bengaluru: State will soon introduce pink police patrol vehicles in the state for women’s protection and safety, said Home minister G Parameshwara.
Hoysala vehicles will be employed in the initial stages for the purpose in Bengaluru City, Home minister confirmed.
He was replying to a query from BJP’s Tara Anuradha in the State Assembly on providing security for women and children.
The department has identified the sensitive areas where security needs enhancement, and accordingly will deploy 51 vehicles in the beginning, Parameshwara said.
A woman police official and three women staff members will be plying in the pink patrol vehicles, and gradually all districts will be provided with similar patrol vehicles, Home Minister clarified.
Similar vehicles are already in operation in neighboring state of Kerala and women’s groups and other organisations have been insisting on enhancing security for women and children after increase in the number of cases of sexual abuse and atrocities in the recent past.
