Bengaluru: Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers Ananth Kumar said in Vidhana Soudha on Saturday that a fertilizer plant with an investment of Rs 6,000 crore will soon be set up in Karnataka.

Kumar said that the plant with an annual production capacity of 13 lakh tonne is proposed to come up in Davangere, Dharwad or Vijayapura. He said, “A preliminary survey is being conducted. The feasibility report and location for this fertiliser plant will be decided by the end of this month”.
He further said that the project will be set up jointly by State and Central government based on a PPP model. The site will be finalized based on the availability of natural gas.
Kumar informed that a gas pipeline project from Dhabol to Bidadi via Bengaluru, is in progress. In one month’s time cooking gas will be supplied through pipelines in the city.
The minister also said that the government has also decided to reduce the prices of various fertilisers.
