Bengaluru: The Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department has bagged prestigious National Panchayat Raj Divas award.
The award will be presented on National Panchayat Divas function on April 24 in New Delhi by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
State Panchayat department has bagged awards in two categories.
It has bagged first prize in electronic communication facilities provided for local bodies and stood third in effective financial distribution for the panchayat bodies.
This apart, 11 village panchayats have bagged awards under various categories.
The awards were considered based on 29 parameters set by the Ministry for Panchayat Raj.
Karnataka has excelled in several developmental measures undertaken by Panchayat Raj department like providing drinking water facility, toilet for each house and others, the statement hailed.
Minister for Panchayat Raj HK Patil will receive the award on behalf of state government.
