Bangalore: Senior citizens will soon get free dentures. Minister for Health and Family Welfare U.T. Khader on Thursday September 11, at a programme organised by the Government Dental College and Research Institute here in the city said that poor people are ignoring oral hygiene as they cannot afford expensive dental treatment in private hospitals. It is important to make dental treatment available in government hospitals for their benefit.

“I have seen elderly people who find it difficult to eat food as they don’t have teeth. They just swallow food without chewing. Hence, I came out with the idea of distributing free dentures to the poor. The government is ready to provide good quality dentures to senior citizens,” said Health and Family Welfare Minister U T Khader.

The State’s plan to open dental units in all government hospitals will also soon take a definite shape.
