State govt to hire 22,000 guest teachers to teach students

Bengaluru: With the idea of ensuring that the shortage of teachers will not hamper the studies of the students, the state government decided to hire 22,100 guest teachers.

According to sources in the Department of Public Instruction (DPI), the number of sanctioned teaching posts in the state is 1,88,540 and out of them 24,891 posts are vacant.

The guest teachers will be paid Rs 7,500 per month as remuneration. “We have released Rs. 166.12 crores for this purpose,” informed an officer from the DPI.

“These teachers have been appointed for a period of ten months,” he said.

Currently, the process of recruiting 10,565 graduate teachers is underway. “The appointment of guest teachers will be cancelled as and when the full-time teachers have been appointed,” he added.
