Bengaluru: The state government is all set to scrap off the Arogya Karnataka scheme in a bid to introduce Ayushman Bharat scheme, a flagship health scheme of the central government.

According to the sources, the state government has written a letter to the central government in this regard.
The idea behind the government’s move is to ensure more financial benefits from the central government to the state. Under the Arogya Karnataka scheme, the state government was bearing 50% of the
expenses of the patients. Another major proposal under consideration by the state government is to increase the honorarium of ASHA workers to Rs. 8,000 per month.
