Bengaluru: The state government announced reservation for the president and vice-president’s posts of 59 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). These reservations are fixed on a rotation basis.
According to a state gazette notification issued by the Urban Development department, Puttur City Municipal Council president post has been reserved for woman (general), while the vice president’s post has been reserved for an ST member.
Udupi CMC president’s post has been reserved for BCA woman, while the vice president’s post reserved for general (woman).
The Ullal CMC president’s post has been reserved for general (woman) while vice president’s post for the general member. Similarly Madikeri CMC president post has been reserved for general woman and vice president for BCA woman.
According to the sources, the reservation has been fixed according to the convenience of the ruling BJP party, which is trying to use the reservation to win the president-vice president posts in many places.
