Bengaluru: The state government released Rs.275 crores towards the reimbursement of RTE free seat reimbursement in the private schools for the academic year 2019-20.
According to reliable sources, the state government owes Rs.550 crores to the schools as reimbursement of the fee of the students who were admitted under the 25% free seat quota fixed by the RTE Act.
The state government has assured the school managements’ that the remaining amount will be released at the earliest.
Welcoming the decision, D Shashikumar, general secretary of the private school managements’ association said, the schools were hit the worst by the COVID 19. A majority of the parents are yet to make last year’s fee payments. “We are confident that the government will release the remaining amount also at the earliest which is key for us to pay the salary dues for our teachers and non-teaching staff,” he said.
