
Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has estimated a loss of Rs.485.65 crores in the recent rain, flood, and landslides.
Earlier the state government had claimed Rs.4,000 crores loss and sought compensation from the central government.
As per the estimation done by the government, 40,180 hectares of farmland, and 37,221 hectares of plantation crops damaged in the rain. 67 houses were damaged in total. 2,732 houses were damaged partially. 3,508 kilometers of road was damaged while 327 bridges are also affected in the flood and rain. Electricity infrastructure worth of Rs.45.74 crores was also damaged. 394 schools and colleges and 90 anganavadis were also ravaged by the rain.
According to authorities, compared to previous years the intensity of the rain and flood is low till now. Looks like a lot more is in store.
