Bengaluru: The state election commission has announced the by-election date for two BBMP wards.
According to the notification, the elections will be held for the Kaveripura and Sagayapura wards on May 29 and the counting will be on May 31.
The Kaveripura ward fell vacant after the death of corporator, former deputy mayor Rameela Ravishankar of the JDS, while the Sagayapura ward fell vacant after the death of Elumalai, an independent corporator.
Meanwhile, JDS city unit president Prakash has urged the Congress to continue the alliance in the BBMP by-election as well. “The JDS has been winning in Kaveripura for the last three terms. So, the Congress should support us here and we can support them in Sagayapura,” he stated.
