Bengaluru: State Congress In-charge K C Venugopal has asked the Congress student wing leaders to collect the list of pro-Sangh Parivar institutions in the state. His move has kicked a fresh storm in the political circles in the state with statements emerging in favour and against the move.

“There are many educational institutions adhering to Sangh Parivar ideology. Go and prepare a list of all such institutions where RSS and ABVP is dominant”, Venugopal has reportedly told a gathering of NSUI and Congress affiliated student organisation members during a recent meeting.

It is extremely difficult to break into their fortress as they do not entertain others nor gel with other student groups, NSUI representatives are understood to have reacted, expressing their difficulty on the occasion, it is gathered.

Opposing Venugopal’s directive to Congress student outfits, Vinay Bidare, National General Secretary of ABVP said the move was undemocratic and unconstitutional and against the tenets of the existing system.

Manjunatah Gowda, State President of NSUI said no such instructions had been given by Venugopal refuting the claims of the opponents.

Venugopal, hailing from Kerala where communist ideology is dominant, cannot force such ideology in our state, said ABVP leaders and asked Venugopal to visit the party office and collect the names of all the principals and students supporting ABVP and take them along with him, if he wished to do so.

MLA Suresh Kumar echoed similar sentiments and said, “Venugopal cannot impose violence-ridden communist culture prevailing in Kerala in our state.”

Justifying his stance, K C Venugopal said there were many complaints from several quarters of certain educational institutions in the state promoting Sangh Parivar beliefs in education. “To strengthen ABVP, educational institutions are being politicised against the rule of law. There is an immediate need to oppose such moves and hence a report has been sought, said Venugopal.”
